MISSION

GOAL
To alleviate the plight of the feeble and Persons With Disabilities.
OUR MAIN CHALLENGES
1.FUNDING. Currently we operate on a very small budget yet our operations require much more funds.
Our immediate needs are:
a) Physiotherapy and rehabilitation equipment which includes mobility aids such as
wheelchairs, scooters, walkers, crutches, canes etc.
b) Vehicles. Majority of our clients live in remote villages and difficult to reach locations unless it is by car.
2. Our long-term objectives include among others, acquiring land for construction of a fully-fledged rehabilitation center.
ABOUT US
BACKCROUND INFORMATION
SOPHGENYI FEEBLE CARE INITIATIVIE (FEEBLE CARE) was founded way back in 2015, we are a registered, non-profit humanity based organization with a VISION to provide a platform to transform lives of the feeble and physically challenged persons in Uganda.
Initially it started as a simple act of kindness that I extended to a 10-year-old boy who fell off a jackfruit tree sustaining serious spinal injury and head trauma. The injured child remained in a vegetative state until he sadly passed on after three painful years. Sadly, I did not get a chance to visit him during his illness as I, too, cannot move without physical support. See my story/life experience.
While I cared for the deceased boy (RIP), I noticed that there are many more people living with various physical challenges. I also noticed that many of the PWDs are ostracized from polite society, and mostly live in remote villages, unidentified, and in dire need of help.
Globally, there are an estimated 1.5 billion (15%) people living with some form of disability. In Uganda alone, out of the 45.74 million Uganda population (2020), UBOS (Uganda Bureau of Statistics) study on disability prevalence found that 6.5 million (12.5%) of these are living with either severe or mild forms of disability.
FEEBLE CARE carried out a small survey where we registered over 35 people living with a physical disability within a small area in the remote villages in Hoima district, in Uganda.
It is on this background that FEEBLE CARE was founded with a VISION to provide a platform to transform the lives of the feeble and physically challenged persons within their communities. At FEEBLE CARE, we care about quality of life.
WHY THE ENABLING CARE?
Living with a disability is very expensive hence PWDs face extra costs of living.
WHY SHOULD YOU SUPPORT US?
From my 22 years’ experience of living with cerebellar ataxia and also factual findings, it is on record that even after a devastating accident, illness, or traumatic experience, life continues either with the same or even more costly human needs. Actually, majority of PWDs incur a higher cost of living yet most of them are unable to effectively fend for themselves.
With your support, you can improve our quality of life. It is a pure act of humanity and social responsibility.
